Air Quality Modelling is conducted by air dispersion and pollutant modelling from a pollutant source by air quality modelling consultants. Air quality impacts are able to be predicted and reported with accuracy to obtain meaningful information about a facility’s air quality impacts to surrounding receivers, be it residential or commercial receivers. This assists owner operators in the development application stage, by predicting if impacts are within the Impact Assessment Criteria. If impacts are not within the Impact Assessment Criteria, then effective management can be implemented at the site to manage these potential impacts by the preparation of a site-specific Air Quality Management Plan. Air Quality modelling consultants use this as an important tool in minimising and managing environmental risk from operators to receivers, such as residents.
Air quality modelling is a mathematical simulation of how air pollutants disperse and react in the atmosphere to affect ambient air quality.
Inputs for air quality modelling include meteorological data and source information such as emission rates.
Air quality consultant can undertake air quality modelling of the following parameters, and have set impact assessment criteria:
Individual toxic air pollutants that are carcinogenic, mutagenic, teratogenic, highly toxic or highly persistent in the environment:
Other individual toxic air pollutants include:
