What is an aircraft intrusion report?

An aircraft intrusion report is a report that assesses the aircraft noise at a property location and details the necessary building construction techniques and materials needed to mitigate any potential noise and meet the acceptable noise levels as detailed in the Australian Standard AS2021. The Australian Standard AS2021 is concerned with land use planning and building treatments near an airport.

Australian Standard 2021 incorporates the Australian Noise Exposure Forecast (ANEF), providing guidance on the types of development and levels of acceptability within a range of noise contours. The Australian Noise Exposure Forecast (ANEF) is not a direct measure of noise emissions. It identifies contours of forecast noise exposure impact around an airport. These contours are modelled using the future aircraft flight schedule, types of aircraft, flight paths and frequency of aircraft operations occurring during the daytime, evening and at night.

In addition to an aircraft intrusion report, a compliance check may be required prior to an occupation certificate being awarded. This is to check that all building treatments comply with the acoustic recommendations.
