What is Occupational Hygiene Testing?
Occupational hygiene testing refers to testing of airborne hazards in the workplace. In particular, workplace hygiene testing is required for at risk workers. By undertaking testing, you as a business owner or manager, maintain your duty of care. Furthermore, you as a business owner or manager must ensure that at risk workers are not exposed to airborne contaminants. In particular airborne contaminants should not be above the Workplace Exposure Standards.
How is Occupational Hygiene Testing Undertaken?
We carry out workplace hygiene testing by attaching air sampling equipment to a worker during their work shift. This is also undertaken for short term exposure periods in some cases. By doing this, ENVIRO CORP establishes the airborne contaminant levels the worker is exposed to during their work shift. In addition, we also affix personal air monitors or badges on the body of a worker. The air sampling head is mounted to the middle top of the persons most exposed shoulder. This helps to obtain meaningful data representative of what a worker actually breathes in.
Airborne Testing is a way to obtain meaningful data to implement proper control measures and make necessary changes if airborne contaminant exposure is above the guideline limits.
