Noise Impact Assessments and Noise Management Plans

Noise Impact Assessments and Noise Management Plans are conducted in accordance with the Noise Policy for Industry (2017) as part of the development application process when assessing noise from: 
  • all new developments
  • existing premises that need to vary their licence or modify their consent conditions under certain circumstances

Noise Impact Assessments are still made under the NSW Industrial Noise Policy (2000) when assessing noise from existing developments that have license or consent conditions that refer to that policy.

The three most important pieces of legislation for managing air quality are the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act 1979 (EP&A Act), the Protection of the Environment Operations Act 1997 (POEO Act) and Local Government Act 1993 (LG Act).
